Kappa Alpha Theta

Alpha Epsilon Chapter Brown University

Chapter Officers

Xhesika Begaj

Chief Executive Officer

Why Theta: My freshman year, I instantly fell in love with Brown. I was hesitant to join a sorority because I felt I already had a solid sense of community within the school. Looking back on it now, I couldn’t be happier that I ultimately did decide to join Theta because being in it has shaped my experience at Brown more than I ever could’ve imagined. Through Theta I have met the most inspiring, passionate and genuine women who have been a constant source of motivation and support for me. I found what I didn’t even know I had been missing - a family.

Anna Horowitz

Chief Operating Officer

Why Theta: When I was a freshman, I couldn’t find my place in the Brown community. I came from a boarding school where I lived in a dorm with a close knit group of 14 girls, and the huge Keeney dorm life wasn’t my scene. When I went through pre-recruitment I saw that I could find that amazing community of strong women in Theta! I met my best friends in and through Theta, and I am so lucky to be surrounded by such smart and driven women.

Rebecca Okin

Chief Education Officer

Why Theta: During my first few months at Brown, I was so impressed by how friendly and driven the Thetas I met were. My decision to join Greek life at Brown was entirely based on these meaningful interactions, so the choice to “think Theta” was effortless! Being a member of a community of such inspirational girls of such diverse academic and extracurricular interests has contributed to my experience at Brown in a way no other organization on campus has.

Sofia Panarella

Chief Marketing Officer

Why Theta: Spring semester freshman year I entered the pre-recruitment process knowing very little. The women that I met in Theta caught me totally off guard with their overwhelming kindness but also with their intelligence and ambition. I knew from day one that I wanted to be a Theta. I wanted to be as hard-working and passionate as the older Thetas that I had to look up to. Thetas on Brown's campus are doing such amazing things every single day. I am so lucky that I am part of this amazing sisterhood!

Mariacarla Doval

Chief Financial Officer

Why Theta: When I first got to Brown, I had a rough time finding a group of girls I could really fit in with. During recruitment, I instantly met girls I could connect with and be myself around. Theta is full of genuine and passionate girls who support each other. I am happy to be a part of this community!

Kaley O'Connor

Chief Administrative Officer

Why Theta: After my first year at Brown, I found that I was still looking for a community that would broaden my network and provide new opportunities. I decided to go through pre-recruitment as a sophomore, and during the process I was instantly attracted to Theta because of how well-rounded and accomplished the women are. Beyond opening so many doors both academically and extracurricularly, Theta has provided me with a community full of support, strength, and friendship. I can confidently say that I found my home at Brown through Theta, and I am so grateful to be part of this organization.

Georgia Fox

Chief Recruitment Officer

Why Theta: When I was going through recruitment during my freshman year, the amazing women in Theta quickly drew me to the chapter. I was (and still constantly am!) in awe of other Thetas and how passionate and driven everyone is. I am so excited for the opportunity to serve on Theta leadership and can’t wait to become more involved in the chapter!

Taylor Bright

Chief Panhellenic Officer

Why Theta: As a returning student to Brown, I did not expect to join a sorority, but I am so glad I did. Theta has provided a community of women who inspire me, challenge me and support me unconditionally. I am honored to be a part of this strong group of leading women and I am grateful for their friendship. I can't wait to share this sisterhood with new Thetas!

Elyse Sauber

Philanthropy

Why Theta: I went to a very small high school and during my first few months at Brown, I missed the tight-knit community I had at home. I knew from the first day of the pre-recruitment process that Theta was the right fit for me. All the sisters are intelligent, kind, and passionate and I couldn’t wait to be one. I am so happy I joined!

Casey Abrahams

Online Media Director

Why Theta: Growing up at an all-girls middle school and high school made me miss that sense of community and support my first semester at Brown. I am so glad that I joined a sorority because I not only found my closest friends but also the family and home that I needed. The women I have met through Theta are incredible – they are intelligent, supportive, kind, and so much fun. I am so lucky and grateful for Theta!

Ali Mothner

New Member Director

Why Theta: Coming into my first year, I knew I wanted to join a sorority so that I could find a community of great, smart, and motivated women. When I went into Theta the first day of pre-recruitment, I knew I had found the group I was looking for! I have been so lucky to be a part of Theta and to get to know the kind and intelligent girls that make up our chapter. As New Member Director, I am so excited to get to know an entire new class of Theta girls!

Brianna Sa

Event Director

Why Theta: After finishing my freshman fall semester, I felt a little out of place and was unsure of my positionality on campus, so I decided to go through recruitment. Immediately I fell in love with the authentic, successful, and welcoming women of Theta. Joining Theta has changed my college experience indefinitely. Brown is much easier to navigate and conquer with a group of supportive, fun, and passionate women by your side. I am so blessed to have found a home away from home and to be able to call all the leading women in Theta my sisters.

Izzy Saker

Human Resources

Why Theta: Never did I see myself as the sorority type. I came to Brown adamant that I was not going to join Greek life. But, as early as October of my freshman year, I realized how blind I was about the value a sorority has on a woman’s college experience. Theta allows me to connect with other ambitious females in my community and gives me a platform to express my feelings regardless of the issue.

Isabel Shaw

Executive Assistant

Why Theta: My first semester at Brown I met several intelligent, compassionate, welcoming women who all had one thing in common- they were Thetas! I joined Theta so that I could be part of this community of inspiring women, and in doing so I’ve made so many new friends, found role models, and joined a family that’s made my time at Brown even more wonderful. I’m so glad to have met and made memories with the kind, funny, and enthusiastic women of Theta.

Shivani Nishar

Co-Facility Management Director

Why Theta: Going to an all-women's high school taught me a lot about confidence, the power of curiosity, and the strength of friendships. I wanted to find a similar community of women at Brown that also prioritized these values and would help me make the best of everything that our school has to offer. I chose Theta because of the immediate connections I made with the girls during recruitment -- everyone was genuinely interested in my passions and ambitions, regardless of how similar or not they were to theirs, and I am so lucky to be part of a wonderfully supportive community.

Cate Marchetti

Co-Facility Management Director

Why Theta: One of the main reasons I was initially attracted to Theta was the energy and passion I felt from all of the girls at recruitment. Standing in a room surrounded by amazing women so eager to not only share about themselves but also learn about me, I knew this was a community I wanted to be a part of. Theta has allowed me to fill my lives with role models, mentors, and friends and has only enriched my experience at Brown.

Kendall Crawford

Scholarship

Why Theta: I chose Theta because I felt at home the second I walked through the door! I am thrilled to be a part of such a great community with so many unique and friendly women that truly care about my well being. I cannot wait for all of the memories and exciting experiences to come with being part of this sisterhood!
